Grok vs ChatGPT: Price in Spain, Plan by Plan

Short answer. On October 17, 2026, seen from Spain, the cheapest plan of the two apps before tax was ChatGPT Go: €8 a month including €1.39 of VAT, so €6.61 before VAT. Grok Plus cost €8 a month before tax, or €80 a year. At the top, before tax, ChatGPT Pro started at €85.12 a month and Grok Ultra cost €210.

In plain words. Both apps print a price of €8 a month for their cheapest plan. ChatGPT’s €8 already includes Spanish VAT. Grok’s €8 does not include tax, and Grok’s page says so. So before tax, ChatGPT Go costs less. Grok also sells yearly plans; the ChatGPT reading showed none.

ChatGPT is OpenAI’s assistant and Grok is xAI’s. Each sells several plans for one person, and both pages were read by hand in a browser from Spain on October 17, 2026, with prices shown in euros. The two pages print their prices on different terms: OpenAI’s window prints a price with Spanish VAT inside it and says how much of it is VAT, while Grok’s page prints a price without tax and says so in a footnote. Comparing the two printed figures directly would set a taxed price against an untaxed one, so the order below uses the price before tax, and each page gives what is needed to reach it.

Every plan for one person, in euros

ChatGPT has three plans in the personal tab: Go, Plus and Pro. Grok has four: Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra, each with a monthly view and a yearly view. The table keeps each price exactly as the page prints it, then gives the tax statement and the figure before tax.

Grok’s tax statement, at the foot of both views, reads: “Los precios mostrados no incluyen los impuestos ni las tarifas aplicables.” Its before-tax figure is therefore the printed one. How much tax Grok adds at checkout is not printed, so the amount paid with tax is not worked out for any Grok plan.

ChatGPT’s Pro price is introduced by “Desde”, and the card adds “Disponible en 3 niveles de uso”. Only the lowest level has a price in the reading, so Pro appears here as a starting figure. OpenAI also sells a Business plan priced per seat; it is not a plan for one person and is left out of this table.

In order, before tax

For ChatGPT, the VAT that the window declares is subtracted from the printed price. For Grok, nothing is subtracted. For Grok’s yearly plans, the yearly total is divided by 12 to set it beside the monthly prices, and the yearly total stays the price that is charged. Lowest first:

1. ChatGPT Go, monthly: €8 − €1.39 = €6.61 a month.
2. Grok Plus, yearly: €80 ÷ 12 = €6.67 a month, charged as €80 a year.
3. Grok Plus, monthly: €8 a month.
4. ChatGPT Plus, monthly: €23 − €3.99 = €19.01 a month.
5. Grok Premium, yearly: €310 ÷ 12 = €25.83 a month, charged as €310 a year.
6. Grok Premium, monthly: €31 a month.
7. ChatGPT Pro, monthly: from €103 − €17.88 = €85.12 a month.
8. Grok Super, yearly: €1,050 ÷ 12 = €87.50 a month, charged as €1,050 a year.
9. Grok Super, monthly: €105 a month.
10. Grok Ultra, yearly: €2,100 ÷ 12 = €175 a month, charged as €2,100 a year.
11. Grok Ultra, monthly: €210 a month.

In this order each ChatGPT plan is followed by a yearly Grok plan: Go by Grok Plus (€6.61 against €6.67), Plus by Grok Premium (€19.01 against €25.83) and Pro by Grok Super (from €85.12 against €87.50).

Grok’s yearly plans against paying monthly

Grok’s page has a selector with two views. The yearly view prints a rounded monthly figure next to the yearly total: “7 €/mes 80 €/año” for Plus, “26 €/mes 310 €/año” for Premium, “88 €/mes 1050 €/año” for Super and “175 €/mes 2100 €/año” for Ultra. The rounded figure is quoted here and never used as a price; the division of the yearly total by 12 gives €6.67, €25.83, €87.50 and €175. Each of those is below the plan’s monthly price of €8, €31, €105 and €210. The yearly plan is charged as one sum, and the footnote adds: “Las nuevas suscripciones se renuevan automáticamente hasta que las canceles.”

The monthly view of the three larger plans also shows a first-month offer. Premium prints “15,50 €/mes 50% de descuento durante 1 mes, luego 31 € al mes”, so €15.50 is a one-month promotion and €31 the plan’s price. Super and Ultra carry the same kind of offer: “52,50 €/mes 50% de descuento durante 1 mes, luego 105 € al mes” and “105 €/mes 50% de descuento durante 1 mes, luego 210 € al mes”. None of these promotional amounts is used as a price above.

Update, October 27, 2026: Grok’s plans page, read again by hand from Spain on October 27, 2026, no longer shows the first-month offer: its monthly view prints “31 €/mes” for Premium, “105 €/mes” for Super and “210 €/mes” for Ultra, with no discount. The prices used in this post were already the full monthly prices, so none of them changes.

The ChatGPT window read on the same day prints one monthly price per plan and no yearly option.

What each plan includes, in the pages’ words

ChatGPT Go. “Escribe, aprende, crea y chatea más con un uso ampliado de la inteligencia básica.” The list has “Más mensajes con herramientas”, “Más generación de imágenes” and “Más chats de voz”, and ends with “Con anuncios” and “Este plan puede incluir anuncios.”

ChatGPT Plus. “Inteligencia avanzada para tareas complejas”, “Agente Work para realizar acciones en aplicaciones y archivos”, “Codex para automatizar la programación”, “Memoria ampliada y 20 GB de almacenamiento” and “Sin anuncios”. Codex, OpenAI’s coding agent, has its own Codex page.

ChatGPT Pro. “Nuestro modelo Pro de vanguardia con mayor capacidad”, “Más uso de Work y Codex”, “Memoria máxima y 100 GB de almacenamiento” and “Sin anuncios”.

Grok Plus. Under “Beneficios de la IA”: “Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine y Build”, “Grok API” and “Cursor”. Under “Ventajas de X”: “Menos anuncios en la línea de tiempo” and “Marca de verificación Premium”. Grok Premium. “Todo lo de Plus y:” then “4x más uso en comparación con Plus”, “Grok Bot”, “Agentes y automatizaciones en la nube” and “Alojamiento de código y revisiones de código con IA”.

The ad lines sit in different places. On ChatGPT they are in each plan’s own list. On Grok they sit under “Ventajas de X”, the heading for what the plan adds on X.

Both pages were read by hand in a browser from Spain on October 17, 2026, with the interface in Spanish: OpenAI’s plans window at chatgpt.com/#pricing, signed in, on the personal tab, and grok.com/plans in its monthly and its yearly view. Each reading was transcribed word for word from a screenshot, and every quote above is checked against those transcripts by a test. VAT is subtracted only where the page states its amount. Euros are never converted to another currency. Struck-through amounts and first-month offers are not used as prices. Nothing here says which plan is better: the pages describe different products.
