LLM API deprecation schedule

The next shutdown on record is on October 22, 2026, 7 days from the day this page was built: Google removes Gemini Omni Flash Preview from its API. 13 models have an announced shutdown date still ahead, 11 of them within 90 days; 8 more are deprecated with no date yet, and 18 models already shut down since January 2026.

Every date and every recommended replacement below is a line copied from the provider's own page (its deprecations page, migration guide or change log), shown next to the entry with the day it was read, so it can be checked against the source in one click. A model name is a link when this site keeps a pricing page for it; most retired models have none, because they were gone before this table started on September 3, 2026 or never had a price in US dollars.

How this schedule is kept

The 20 entries above come from 9 pages: the deprecations pages of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Cohere, xAI's migration guide for its May 15 retirement and DeepSeek's change log. All were last read on October 12, 2026. A shutdown is listed only with the provider's own line for its date, and 35 of the 39 models carry a replacement the provider names itself; where a cell says "—" the provider named none for that model, and nothing is filled in for it.

The providers do not mean the same thing by a date. OpenAI and Anthropic give a shutdown date after which requests fail. Google's table gives the earliest day a model may be turned off and promises an exact date in advance, so a Google date can move later. xAI and DeepSeek keep the old model names answering after the shutdown: xAI sends them to Grok 4.3 and bills them at its price, DeepSeek routes them to V4.1 Flash. A shutdown date on this page is the day the original model stops, not always the day the name stops working.

The split between upcoming and past is made when the site is built; the daily price check rebuilds it on every day it records a verification. Every Monday a job reads the deprecations pages of OpenAI, Anthropic and Google and xAI's list of retirement guides again and compares each model and date on them with this list; a model or a date that is not here is reported for a person to read and add, with the provider's line, before it appears. Meta's Llama API (July 6, 2026) is on record but not listed: the page that announced it can no longer be read as text, so the date cannot be quoted.
